pre ramadhan gathering

it has been a culture , i must say , in my family to have makan-ning session each time all of us were at granny's place. unlike other makan makan where we just cakap kosong , this round had an added prayer moments where we pray for our late grandpa and welcoming the ramadhan .
Cookings were done by , who else but Mum ? she was still a great chef . and everyone loves her dishes . its great to meet up with the cousins though not all were present and bonding with the makciks and pakciks . here , i captured some dishes that Mum made along with Bibik Tus who helped out in the kitchen since 730 in the morning .

 

those above were still my all time favourite dishes from the Mum. and surprisingly , Aunty Aton brought along a 1.5kg chocolate tweety cake from Bengawan Solo ( yeah she works there so thats the reason why the cake was from B.S ) to celebrate July and August babies . Sorry babies , we weren't prepared hence no presents from Mr and me .

Ministry Of Retail

The very first time when I googled for a jumper over the net , I chanced upon this webby called Ministry Of Retail . Hmmm ..sounded very much like the government . Yeah .. Ministry of Manpower , Ministry of Education ,Ministry of Health and  etc . And I was hoping badly that it wasn't of those Taiwan Or Korean website . Else, I had to bear  so much shipping charges for shopping in overseas . Boy am I glad to know that its from Singapore !

There were so many websites that sold clothes online but why I particularly , in love with this one was because their designs were very much to my liking . Up-to-date and I'm spoilt with so many choices . As I am a pretty much plus-size , I had difficulties finding tops or blouses that I wanted to own . At times , everything was alright except for the chest . Sometimes , everything was ok except for the thighs . Sigh ..But here , in Ministry Of Retail ( MORE ), surprisingly I found that they cater to my sizes perfectly !! How wonderful could that be ?

Recently , I added another jumper to my wardrobe and of course , where else could it be if not for MORE . I heart it so so so much . Yes to the extreme because of the material that was of a good quality , and hey who says wearing a jumper makes one a fat bump ? I wasn't really sure of other jumpers but definitely not from MORE . This jumper here , helped me alot . And guess what now ? I am in love with Autumn Goddess ! It was sleek and sexy and and and ...pheew ...incredibly beautiful . Great news was there's no restriction for shoulder and chest ! I was so delighted to know this as I always had problem with my chest area when it came to buying apparels . You can wear this in 3 ways too . Toga or tube or off-shoulder .

 this particular cheese fries was so sedaaaaap lah .. really !! can challenge the kfc one ! when I first had my bite , it was sooo palatable , i must say . the fries are big , i can feel the potato on every inch , every single munch . and the cheese were so smooth . too bad it wasn't sprinkle with 'daun bawang ' . i wish it had .
anyway , i enjoyed it . food is to enjoyed , isn't it ??

over the week

My days have been pretty much mundane . And I knew I have been neglecting my blog , though I'm trying very hard to update every now and then . Ok , ok , I will try ok but no promises . 17th July was Hanis 26th birthday but it was a day filled with not much surprise for her because number 1 : the beloved fiance had to work . Number 2 : both Wan & Arina was out of town . Number 3 : both Jo and Baz had to attend company's dinner . And didn't I ever share with you how wonderful friend Hanis was ? Because again despite all these , she was still happy . And boy am I glad to know that . As she had made plans with her family , Mr and I thought it would be good if we can just pop by down her void deck to say hello and surprise her with just a little celebration just a few minutes before midnight struck . Yes , a little . Don't expect too much because there wasn't much people and we were doing it a very subtle manner . We got her a matching suitcase earlier month to match with his fiances' but again , since we had a little bargain from Fox , I thought we shouldn't let go of this great deal . Nah , the biggest gift was still a friendship we made . How can there be a celebration without a cake ? Mr suggested a slice from Secret Recipe . haha , yeslah you read it right ! A slice but a huge one . We battled upon Tiramisu and my fav Banana Choc Cake . Mr had to surrender because how can the award winning cake lose over Tiramisu ? Sorry dear , I get your Tiramisu when your birthday comes in December ,aye ? So again , Happy 26th birthday from us and I believe your dreams will come true . Soon !!

alright , I knew I'm a bit slow but aiyah ..never mind that , now that I've watched this amazing movie over at sister's crib . I am not really a big die hard fan of SRK but I knew he's a great actor . I love almost all his movies especially the evergreen ones like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai , Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham , just to name a few . I was quite surprise to know that this movie above DID NOT have any much singing and dancing like any other hindi films . It was a great movie , straight-to-the-point and again , SRK played very well as Rizvan Khan along with the beautiful actress Kajol who had a great chemistry when they worked together ;) I like that .

ever since I entered FFG , I learnt not to criticise their performance being an actor or actress , I learnt not to complain each time a movie sucks big time but I value and find the moral of the story which the producer or director was sending . in MY NAME IS KHAN , i found that we should not have any grudges among other races and when we commit to do something , make sure you really commit to IT !

go and watch it if you haven't . please don't think too much if you are not a fan of SRK . its the message of the movie that's important ;D

when shopping is such a breeze

who don't love shopping ? it had been quite a while that i last had my retail therapy over the malls . Not that because i do not have the time but because now , i have been dilligently shop over the net for good . i can shop gracefully at the comfort of my own home or anywhere i want , thanks again to Apple for creating a big hell of awesome gadget .

you may think that shopping for clothes might not be a great idea because you can't try and feel them but i doubt so , because thanks to all the retailers , they are always indicated the measurements and the material or best they described to you every single details. You gotta be real clever in this ! else some retailers won't exchange or refund you any penny should it not fits you . Don't easily give up , please . u can always email them your queries n i'm pretty sure they will answer you because again , customers are important . Not right hah but IMPORTANT ! Up to date , i do not have any problems purchasing any tops or dresses online . in fact , i love and look forward to each time ;)

here are some tips i read in Chic magazine, when shopping online :-

a ) Keep all your transaction details on hand in case you need to report non receipt of an item .
b ) Try asking sellers to hold items for a week or two if you don't have enough cash at the moment .
c ) It's only polite to reply emails from sellers , you may become a blacklisted buyer otherwise
d ) Registered mail only cost $2.24 but saves you the worry of missing parcels .
e ) Get on the mailing list of your favourite stores for discounts and first dibs on new arrivals .
f ) If you are buying designer goods , arrange with your seller to have it authenticated at a boutique here .

and for those who have not subscribed to any ibanking , i would really really encourage you to do so ! checking your account is another thing but how eezzy preezzy could that be , if you dont have to run to any atm machine to transfer or make payments to retailers . its so handy !!

i want to repeat it again !!

may i mention it again ? i want to repeat it again . yes , the whole thing . the two days event almost two years ago . OUR WEDDING . Allow me to recall back the every minutes that was still , surprisingly fresh in my mind . Well , how could one forget the most memorable day in his/her life ?

back then , i was working with Leonard Drake at Ang Mo Kio Hub which is now cease its operation for good . i was so enthusiast , sourcing out for the best deal and of course the best ones in my eyes . the make up artist , the decoration , the door gift for kids and adults , videographer , photographer and all that contributes much to our event . i am very much way satisfied till today . i am blessed that everything went smooth , thanks to Allah for making the weather such a breeze although prior to that , there were many obstacles that we faced . why i so badly wanted to go through being a bride again was because the feeling of a princess for the day was undescribable , i must say . family and friends were all unite in the event , and me being a young little girl when i was small , i used to look upon the bride . whispering to my mum , "so beautiful !! " and i love to see their outfits ! now each time theres entourage , i have goosebumps . i feel the bride . and i just love weddings .

lately , we were invited to one of our common friend's wedding . congratulations ema and shadiq ! You were such a gorgeous bride la . For once i totally forget that you were once a little girl , because of your petiteness and sweet little face . Be a good wife from today onwards heh and we pray that your love with the husband will last till eternity and produce ( is that the right word to say ? ) lots of cute babies !!!

how can we missed eating ? its only when attending malay wedding events that we get to eat 'nasi minyak' and ema's nasi minyak was sooo finger licking good !!

these are some of my dreams . i used to have dreams but it got faded away . today , i dream again but one thing i know , it wont go away just like it used to. i know , it sounds and look absurd to you especially when you see the images above but i shall not care you . i will make my dreams come true . ameen .

all ALONE

Thanks to FFG that we often get to travel and most of the time , we hopped to a beautiful city which now I've regard as my second home . Jakarta . And again , we have always been together when we travelled . But not this time round . I am all alone without anyone. Without Mr. Without any family members and friends . The minute I knew that I'll be travelling all alone , I was kinda nervous . I don't know whether I can do this or not because all along I have always been accompanied by my loved ones . When the plane took off , my hands were as usual holding hands to the other but at that moment , I gripped the seat hard enough while reciting prayers hoping my ride will be a smooth one . I had to transit in Jakarta because there wasn't any direct flight from Singapore to Surabaya . This , again its all due to the last minute booking . Making a transit in Jakarta was a weird one , honestly . I had to check out and get my baggage and ... went all the way up to check in again . Well , thats Indonesia ;)

Upon reaching , I was trying to get a Blue Bird taxi which was one of the best taxi in Indonesia that using the automated meter but it was out of sight . There was taxis but not Blue Bird so I just took it . Mind you , taxis in Indonesia wont give you any change . Pardon you ? For example , is the fare is Rp48,000 and you gave Rp50,000 no change will be given . You can look at the driver for minutes , he wont give you any change . Period .

Thanks to our friend , I got a special rate in JW MARIOTT HOTEL . One of the luxurious hotel in Surabaya . Indeed , I feel blessed to be able to sleep in an amazing room . The room was so huge . It was to me like a living room size in our normal Hdb house . Great service from the bellboy to the guest relation officer . Everything from the hotel was amazing . Let the pictures do the talking .. ( camera wasnt with me , apology for the not-so-clear picts )

Its a shame that the other bed was a waste !

I want this !!! It was such a hassle -free isnt it ? To have all the lights , tv , alarm clock all at one !

Enough of the hotel , my purpose of going to Surabaya was for two main reason . One was attending Dynamic and Appreciation Night which was a great Grammy event and the other was International Mentor Meeting .

The sharings from most of the mentors at the D&A night on their journey to achieve their dreams , inspired me . And most of the time , I swept my tears . Tears of joy to see people who are so driven to financial and time freedom ! Here , I witnessed Mentor Yin Fan receiving her award while she shared that her success was dedicated to her late mother who just pass away a few weeks ago just after she came back from Bootcamp as a crew and before she went to India . Her mother's death was so planned nicely so that she's able to serve FFG community . May your mum rest in peace .

All mentors from all over the world came to International Mentor Meeting at Surabaya and its the first time ,I'm attending it . Alone . We had fun on the first half of the day but things get serious on the second half . It was a 2 days 1 night meeting and I learnt alot from Prof Onggy and the rest of the mentors . I learnt that Time is Life ! That we cannot take for granted when we have a lot of time . That when we decide to do something , do it and dont delay because as all of you know , time cannot be recycled. Theres so many things that I learnt from IM2 , its a real pity that both the husband n Hanis couldnt make it . One of which that I loved was Money Jar . How to manage your wealth without going through the hassle of Financial Consultant . Thats the bonus part when becoming a Mentor !

ooops .. no Mr. For the rest of you , I know very well what you are thinking now . This is what I call Amazing Crossline . Mr Sim Poh Hock is such a cool guy . I remembered clearly the first time I met him , months ago , he has that fierce-look which I don't even dare to say Hi to him . But look at us now . Lesson learn : don't judge a book by its cover .
