flats over heels

i just love to carry myself with heels , wedges or those platforms back then . and all that i use to think with an extra inches to lift me up from my normal height , was just my own personal myth . mainly for two main reasons : looking good and confident as i walked to the streets . but ever since i gain pounds , i no longer think that way . most importantly is how comfortable i can be throughout the whole day of walking around ,with just a minimal rest when seeing benches over at the malls.

i saw this flats over at a magazine and went crazy over it .

and the next step after got crazy ??

i grab them !! so pretty , who can resist ? aiyooo...
this tweed bag was just as awesome .

vOIla ...

so if you too have been eye-ing for a miu miu purse or tods shoes or perhaps just a simple accessories , save every penny because dreams do come true when you make an effort to achieve it . :)

and then its to shield ...the journey of .

curtains by fact do not just blocked against the daylight , it helps against the formation of pigments on our skin as well . and its definitely a must to have in our house ! and would you want a window to be naked all the time ? they want to be dress too .

a couple of years back , mum would just tailor made herself for the whole house and that includes sewing for the grannys and aunts as well as taking orders for a few of her acquaintances . especially when it comes to the peak period , what else but festive season , mum will be as busy as a bee . when its ready to dress those windows , guests were awed by her capability and if you must know , mum is one detailed lady where she always ensure that every part is sewed perfectly . as years passed , she then bought the ready made ones at Geylang . well , that was mum .

you know , i had a hard time making a final decision of choosing blinds at the bedrooms verses curtains. after much thought and discussion with Kamil and the hubs , i chose the latter with no regrets . the search for a capable curtain maker then starts .
i joined renotalk forum , recommended by Kamil and get a few contacts from there . May Cheong from MGL Curtain and Finishing at the Eminent Plaza , won our hearts . She was extremely good and professional , giving us tips and ideas and share with us the pros and cons of handling the different type of fabrics . a bunch of forummers commented that MGL 's workmanship is good .  May gave us a wide range to choose too and the final quotation given by May , was within our budget . Voila ! I didnt bring my mum along this time (most of our furniture hunting , she was with us) as i do not want my taste to be restricted by her opinion . hah .

i definitely just cant wait for the windows to get dressed ! give May a ring at 63920373. she would be more pleased to serve you .

heres some tips which i wish to share with you . taken from my favourite magazine , Square Rooms :
The material that your curtain is made of will drastically alter the look of your room . Sheer organza exudes a gentle touch , soft silk adds a hint of feminity . Thick velvet looks grand and majestic, while untreated canvas or cotton brings a sense of raw industrialism.

true blue fan

who does not know Malaysia's number one singer , Siti Nurhaliza ? i am proud to share with you that i am one of her fans who are loyal no matter what she gone through ( the gossips , the controversial issue of her marrying Dato' K and etc ) . every of my family members knew how much i love her as a person with so much of extraordinary talent . i predicted that she would definitely won Bintang HMI , a singing competition organised by TV1 and since then , i am a big fan of her . not to the extreme of following her whereabouts and bought every single cd or cassette back then but each time when she performed in the television , i wouldnt want to switch channels . such beautiful voice should be well - appreciated , isnt't it ? what more when she's the cover magazine ? its a must to grab and then read on !

i went to a couple of her concerts before and Siti never failed to impress her fans . and i try to be there on every of  her performances in Singapore .

today on a lunar new year , as expected all or most shops at town  are closed so i suggest to hop over to Johor Bahru . i popped by to their Watsons store only to notice a brand name SimplySiti . i longed knew the existence of this brand but have yet to try and buy . and because i told you that im her fan , i think its appropriate for me to show my support by getting at least one item .

and yeah ... got myself a compact powder .
what i love most is not just about the fine texture it has when being applied on the skin but hey , its HALAL !! another brand which i do not fret about besides Doll Me Up cosmetics . their lip colours were also named after her songs and one of my favourite is Nirmala .
lets talk less and i suggest you to view her website here .

oh before i forget , have you ever dream to have a flawless skin just like your favourite celebrities ? think of Fann Wongs' or glowing skin like J.Lo . i died to have like Sitis' !! the great news now , those of you who were just like me , can achieved good skin with a new product that Siti herself have taken for a year and believes in the miracle of Celergen . it believes to rejuvenate , improve vitality and immense freshness when we can be so dreary when going to work .

a box of Celergen doesnt comes cheap but i believe its definitely a good product . else why would a diva willing to put her money on a product that was not effective on her ?

i am certainly going to get a box in a months time ;))

feeling a celebrity .

let me share with you what was my actual childhood's ambition . while most of my friends wanted to be a teacher , no less a pilot , i chose to wish to be an actress . because for once i knew i do not have a great voice to sing , therefore being in the limelight would only be an actress . well , a safe choice i must say .

back in secondary school , i played a small role in a musical performance and i love what im doing . a couple of hosting ,which ive always wanted to be Norish Karman back in Potret Keluarga , in school .

just two years ago , i pulled my husband off to take part in a Suria ' KATA DULANG PAKU SERPIH ' , a series where both husband and wife exchange role to understand our spouse better . it was a breath-taking experience . why do i want to participate ? it aint because of fame and the glitz and glamour but the total experience that i wanted to encounter , since my dream wasnt fulfilled . ( mungkin tak cukup criteria kot .)

and recently when Sutra magazine was looking for stylist , makeup artiste and model , i didnt think that long to submit my entry . just for FUN , thinking that i would never be called by the editors .  BUT i was wrong ! hey , i am in a magazine ! hah ... ini lah actress jadi -jadian . masuk tv sudah , majalah pon sudah .  kes close .

i thanked Hazami Hamidon for giving me the opportunity to be featured in the February issue of SUTRA magazine . it wasnt as easy as you may see but i had a whole loads of fun with the great team especially to Yaqyn who dolled me up beautifully . also Liyana Yusoff for being the most understanding stylist ive ever met ! thanks to all .

for more pictures , i suggest you get a copy of SUTRA . but dont buy because of me as im not worth that $4 . grab it because SUTRA is definitely a great magazine with so much of information and ideas . i am in the magazine , all because of SUTRA . thank you so much !!

the journey of ... (part 2)

now we have to low our heads and admit that we are one of the kiasu Singaporeans . the keys to our home have not even been collected but we have done more than 95 % , from choosing the interior company to getting our furnitures and other electrical items . seriously we are one crazy bunch who are extremely excited for our abode . albeit you will act the same way too if you know that its coming to your way real soon .

i was always attracted by the carpets at those furniture boutiques and apparently it was sold at $599 . the best price one gave me was $550 . i wouldnt want to invest too much on accessories that could probably by any chance would not do for a long period of time . what if food or water gets spilled over and over again ? or texture wasnt as good as a brand new ? for that , i can only be a dreamer of those carpets . UNTIL , i saw a similar one over at the Ikea . for only $199 !! see how much i can save ? they produce the colour that i want ! gorgeous !
a closer view . they should produce more colours , i reckon . customers like us who dont want to have a hole in their pocket will then have more choice of colours to buy the next time .

we couldnt decide how we want our bathroom to be .

or

we thought , just let our mind stress-free and allow Barry to design for us .

loved these colourful basins . im sure it gives that special aura as one steps into the bathroom .
shall update you with more pictures soon but now im rushing for work . see you in part 3 ;)

a good referral , somehow .

this particular blog entry was delayed for weeks and i know no matter what happened , it has to be published before 2011 comes , which is just a few days away ( from the date of this original entry ) But it somehow became transparent as i set my eyes and more focus on our upcoming house . tsk tsk tsk ...

my mum and me are avid readers of magazines , especially Sutra and Manja . and we look into the seriousness of each category in the magazine . Of course , what i love to do first was to browse the whole page before starting my journey with the cover story .

how serious are we ?

we are serious on how the media wrote to the readers by trusting them . Not entirely when it comes to celebrities and the gossips about them BUT the other small little things . Like what ??

i am not a big fan of Clinique but have used their Superfit and Superbalanced liquid foundation before. as written on the magazine , Clinique is the 4th most popular brand among the rest . few days later , i got myself a Superpowder . true to its name , this pressed powder was great for touching-up and unlike other brands , i see myself putting powder on my face  . im not sure how to explains , why not go to the nearest counter and you know what i meant ! ;)

we wanted to try this the minute we saw this article and yes , it was indeed sedaaaaaap . service was excellent ! and of course the food was rated 5* by me .

they were featuring all the rendang instant in town and among all , this Brahim brand scored the highest rate ! and i bought a packet to try . it was finger licking good !! i must say this tasted almost like a home cooked rendang . heard from my sister that their asam pedas was also sedaap..

so now you know, why i never missed to buy a copy every month !

the journey of making a dream home (part 1 )

you definitely wants someone who is reliable , responsible from a reputable and established company to design and build your house right ?
we are definitely one of them .
we are even serious when friends recommend interior companies to us . and because its through recommendation , interior designers try to be flexible in whatever way they can . however , at the end of the day its US who make the decision which one of those that we want .

our ride began on 30th december 2010 when we decide to go to Home & Lifestyle exhibition at the Expo where we met Design36 . and what do you know ? we were totally lost . we dont know what we want for our home . we know nothing about tiles . we have no idea what concept we want but Jason was professional to design and quote for us on the spot . finally we had an idea of what our house gonna be and use his quotation as a guideline for us to do a comparison to the rest of the interior companies.

my appointment with Kartini of Hamid and Sons was a pleasant one . we decide to bring my mum along , knowing that she had a couple of experiences with contractors and such . so having her around would definitely be an extra bonus as i have someone to post queries and guide us along the way . and im glad that mum love to accompany us throughout the whole journey of making our house a beautiful one , from choosing the interior designer to sourcing out furnitures . lucky am i to also know that the mother-daughter taste were almost 98% the same . pheew ! ok ive side -track already .. Kartini who was recommended by a friend , deliver good service and i like her way of dealing with customers .Not only did she design and quote but she ensure that this customer of hers knew what type of material is being used . She knew exactly what she's doing . We had to consider her quotation because going over to Kartini was only the second interior that we had surveyed . and you know that we need to be extra careful and choose the right one wisely , base on customer service , workmanship and definitely price !

pop over pulak to Home Success and meet Mr Jimmy Goh at Bukit Timah Plaza where the showroom was . He was also introduced by a friend of mine who had her house beautifully done (as she claimed) so , we suppose Jimmy must be skilled in his field . we were utterly disappointed , much to our dismay . shall not elaborate here more , maybe we had high expectations not ?
Kartini was still on our 1st top priority here .

as you may have known , i am one magazine junkie . i refer to them for the latest whats-in store and also guidelines , tips , dos and donts . i couldnt wait for no time less to get a copy of Home Decor magazine . and up to date , i have these for us to somehow gave us an idea of what we would like to have in our home .

i noticed Square Rooms magazine or any that was by Square Rooms was so much better that Home And Decor ones . More visual pictures and gave alot of tips and ideas too !

We then met Hisham ,also from Hamid and Sons from a different outlet and had our quotation done . Again , words of mouth was the best way of any business to grow . What say you ? i always believe that when someone recommend us a good food , a good seamstress or whatever you named it , it was definitely GOOD . Hisham was averagely okay for me but the husband and mum prefer him than that of our first choice , because of a good deal he made for us as it was through a recommendation .

I wasnt much satisfied until we randomly head to the well known Chew Interior at Toh Guan . (we were supposed to have our dinner at IMM but terpesong kat Chew ). for two and half hour there , we discussed further . Barry who served us was prompt , creative and pleasant . Hamid and Sons & Chew was on par with each other but what made us finally settled for Chew was because Barry won our hearts by giving free gifts .

as much as comparing interior companies are concerned, i think one should not survey every each companies in this Singapore because by doing so , it will only made you more headache !

Interior Designer SETTLED !

both of us had no idea what concept and theme for our home . it was only after deciding the furnitures we want that we knew it was Modern Contemporary . since the taking of possession didnt take place yet , we have ample time to look around (if possible the whole Singapore) the furnitures and other electrical items . we took time to make a comparison of the refrigerator , washing machine and dryer between Best Denki , Courts and Harvey Norman . We went to various places from Ikea to Furniture Mall both at Pasir Panjang and Beach Rd , Courts , Nova Furnishing Centre to search for the right sofa and coffee table and finally settled at Mondi and Univonna instead . loved the sleek design ! and up to date , i enjoyed the entire journey . Off to Balestier to find what else but lights ! served by a very friendly and nice lady , Jenny at Lights Arcade , we got lights for a good deal .

The husband and myself are still searching for a errmm ... nice ceiling fan and a good mattress . you have any place to share with me ?
